Description
Position Purpose
The Account Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of strategic insurance and risk management solutions to a portfolio of large and mid-market corporate clients. Acting as the primary client advocate, the role combines client relationship management, technical insurance expertise, market negotiation and portfolio leadership to achieve exceptional client outcomes.
Within the Brisbane Corporate Team, the Account Manager partners closely with Account Directors, Account Executives, Placement Specialists and Risk & Analytics colleagues to manage complex programmes and deliver a high-touch service model. The role is expected to build deep client relationships, identify growth opportunities and contribute to the continued success and reputation of the Willis Queensland Corporate business.
Key Accountabilities
- Serve as the trusted adviser and primary relationship manager for a portfolio of corporate clients.
- Build strong client relationships by understanding business operations, strategic objectives and risk exposures.
- Lead the design, placement and renewal of complex insurance programmes.
- Develop and deliver client service plans, renewal strategies and risk management solutions.
- Collaborate with specialist teams, insurers and key stakeholders to achieve outstanding client outcomes.
- Support clients through claims and significant loss events, providing advocacy and guidance, in conjunction with the WTW claims team, when required.
- Ensure client servicing activities are delivered in accordance with WTW standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership, coaching and technical guidance to Account Executives and support team members.
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture that supports continuous improvement.
- Support business growth through client retention, cross-selling opportunities, prospect meetings and tender submissions.
- Maintain professional development and technical expertise through ongoing learning and industry engagement.
Qualifications
Success Profile
We're looking for an experienced insurance professional who brings:
Corporate insurance broking and client management experience.
Strong technical and placement expertise across complex insurance programmes.
Excellent relationship-building and client advisory skills.
Proven stakeholder management and negotiation capabilities.
Commercial mindset with a focus on client growth and retention.
Leadership and mentoring experience.
Strong attention to detail, compliance awareness and organisational skills.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- 5+ years' experience in corporate insurance broking or risk advisory.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex commercial or corporate accounts.
- Strong technical understanding of major General Lines insurance classes, including Property, ISR, Liability, Motor Fleet and Marine.
- Proven ability to negotiate with insurers and deliver favourable client outcomes.
- Excellent presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Tier 1 Insurance Broking qualification.
Preferred
- Diploma of Insurance Broking or equivalent.
- Previous mentoring or informal leadership experience.
- Exposure to tender processes and new business development.
