About the team:

The Direct and Facultative Data and Analytics team offer a wide range of analytical support to the broking team in order to secure the best results for our clients. Typical analytical support includes data management, catastrophe modelling, exposure management, financial modelling, and bespoke analytics. The focus of our team is to provide brokers with a deeper understanding of their client's risk from natural and man-made perils such as windstorm, earthquake, severe convective storm, flood and wildfire.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Brokers in the Global Markets Direct & Facultative team to deliver cutting-edge casualty pricing analytics. The Direct & Facultative Data and Analytics team provide a broad range of analytical insights and tools to help the broking team achieve the best outcomes for clients.

Core analytical support includes advanced statistical modelling, frequency-severity analysis, financial modelling, benchmarking and bespoke pricing tools that enable brokers to secure optimal terms for clients. Your focus will be on quantifying casualty risks across commercial auto liability, general liability, worker’s compensation and excess casualty lines. This involves developing exposure-adjusted frequency-severity models, benchmarking against market loss costs, applying extreme value theory and building casualty raters to generate technical pricing indications.

On a day-to-day basis, you will audit and transform complex claims and exposure data, develop and validate pricing raters in Python or R, simulate loss distributions and convert analytical outputs into actionable tools for brokers. The role demands a rigorous, data-driven mindset, strong statistical and coding expertise and the ability to translate analytical insights into commercial value.

Principle Duties

This is a general summary of the duties that the individual will be expected to perform as a part of their role:

  • Handle and cleanse complex claims and exposure data to ensure accuracy and modelling readiness.

  • Lead end-to-end casualty pricing workflows - from data preparation and modelling to rate analysis and presentation.

  • Develop and deploy frequency-severity models (e.g., Poisson - log Normal, GPD tails etc.) using Python or R to price casualty lines and complex policy structures.

  • Validate model outputs against historical data, stress-test assumptions on trend, inflation, development and large-loss patterns.

  • Benchmark outcomes using portfolio data to assess industry positioning and ensure competitive, technically sound rates.

  • Design pricing tools, templates and dashboards (e.g., Power BI) that convert analytical results into actionable insights for underwriters and brokers.

Collaborate with brokers/underwriters to refine pricing strategies, produce dynamic dashboards (e.g., Power BI) and one-pagers

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine pricing strategies, communicate analytical outputs in clear commercial terms.

  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across pricing and analytics.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in insurance/reinsurance pricing (ideally casualty lines); progress towards actuarial credentials from any recognized body (e.g. IAI, IFoA, CAS) advantageous.

  • Expert proficiency in Python/R for statistical modelling (e.g. simulations); SQL mastery for big data handling, advanced Excel and Power BI skills.

  • Strong statistical foundation: GLM, credibility weighting, chain-ladder reserving, extreme value theory.

  • Familiarity with London/U.S. casualty markets: Direct & Facultative placements, loss cost trends, attachment points.

  • Process automation mindset.

  • Exceptional storytelling: simplify technical outputs like deposit premiums, EP curves/VaR etc. for non-technical brokers/clients.

  • Proactive team player; thrives under placement deadlines in a high-stakes global leader.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to process and understand data quickly and creatively.

  • The ability to work in a team.

  • Highly motivated to learn and grow within a global market leader.
