    About the job

    We are seeking a talented individual to join our growing Natural Resources team based in Calgary.

    As the Client Advocate, you will play a vital role in our success. Working with both existing clients and contributing to our growth by assisting with the onboarding of new clients, you will manage the renewal process, implement insurance solutions to meet clients' changing needs, and serve as the first point of contact for the client service team regarding renewal processing and technical questions. In addition, you will support client relationships and strategy at the insurance program level, leveraging WTW’s Global resources to provide coordinated service and placement to meet the client’s insurance and risk management needs. Your understanding of the business will also help drive new business efforts and identify opportunities to maximize the profitability of existing clients through account rounding.

    The Role

    • Manage and retain a portfolio of clients, including but not limited to those in upstream energy, oilfield services, and mining industries.
    • Serve as a primary client contact, with approximately 50% of responsibilities being client-facing.
    • Lead strategic planning and provide consultative risk management advice throughout the policy lifecycle, including during acquisitions.
    • Collaborate with global teams on multinational accounts and integrate WTW’s internal resources to deliver exceptional client service.
    • Mentor junior colleagues and support their professional development.
    • Travel as needed to client locations.
    • Strengthen client relationships and identify opportunities for account expansion and cross-selling.
    • Partner with broking and sales to build market relationships and stay informed on industry trends.
    • Contribute to new business development through prospecting and expanding existing client relationships.
    • Design, negotiate, and present fee agreements, proposals, and service plans.
    • Lead and collaborate on the RFP responses  
    • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
    • Drive the renewal process and develop customized strategies in collaboration with WTW practice and industry groups.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    The Requirements

    Qualifications & Experience

    • 7–10 years of Commercial Insurance experience in client-facing roles.
    • Relevant industry background with post-secondary education, and certifications (e.g., CIP, CRM, etc.) are preferred.
    • Experience working with clients across various Natural Resources (Energy) industries.
    • Experience with Everen is an asset but not required.
    • Level 2 Insurance license.
    • Must complete continuing education to maintain required licensing.

    Technical Skills & Knowledge

    • Strong understanding of coverage forms, program design, and gap analysis.
    • Familiarity with the full commercial insurance renewal process.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant tools.
    • Ability to interpret, analyze, and present complex insurance programs and models.
    • Strong business acumen with knowledge of market strategies and client solutions.

    Communication & Interpersonal Skills

    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions.
    • Strong relationship management and negotiation skills, with a focus on conflict resolution.
    • Able to effectively leverage internal and external resources to meet client needs.
