    Description

    The Role:

    Underwriting Assistants are responsible for submission management, processing and delivering of quotes, binders, and policies to the insurance producers (brokers) within specific performance standards. They are also responsible for technical analysis of specific underwriting data to assist underwriters in the underwriting process and ensuring that policies are accurate and are consistent with the terms of the binder.

    • Handles clearance of submissions from producers and underwriting folder/file set-up of new/renewal policies; reviews submission and request missing information from broker.
    • Maintain service standards by responding timely to internal/external partner requests.
    • Provide backup assistance to other UA’s as necessary.
    • Rate various lines of business following set of workflows and guidelines.
    • Maintain underwriting file integrity by ensuring all necessary documents are filed in the policy administration system.
    • Assist underwriters with the creation of quote letters, binders, endorsements, and policies, while ensuring we issue to the brokers within the processing standards established by management.
    • Register bound premium within established guidelines.
    • Assist WTW NA National Accounting Center (NAC) to review and resolve premium discrepancies.
    • Communicate directly with brokers to confirm or obtain data needed for policy issuance and servicing. 
    • Train and coach new UA’s.
    • Assist underwriters and underwriting services in preparation for underwriting audits and responding to audit results.
    • Handle special projects as assigned. 

     

     

    Qualifications

    The Requirements:

    • 2 plus years of experience as an underwriting associate in a non-life insurance company, or business experience with similar duties.
    • Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.  
    • Strong English written and oral communication skills.
    • Computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Attention to detail.
    • Interpersonal skills.
    • Data analysis and interpretation
