    Description

As one of the world’s leading outsourced chief investment officer providers (with more than $160 billion of assets under management) and an investment consulting firm with trillions of dollars of assets under advice, WTW’s Investment practice uses broad and sophisticated frameworks for managing risk to bring our innovative advisory, management and research expertise to improve investment outcomes for asset owners. Emphasis on leading internal research has always been part of our history which goes back over 35 years.

Climate change and climate transition issues are increasingly complex meaning investors need solutions and advice that address real world transition practicalities and anchor climate goals in terms of financial risk and return. These issues are as pertinent as ever and, we believe, will become more pronounced over time as the transition progresses and asset owners are required to carefully weigh emerging trade-offs. We are in a strong position to help investors - driving financial solutions and enabling investor actions that reduce financial risk through supporting a transition to a lower emission economy.

WTW’s Investment practice is recognized as an industry leader in the climate space, for example in the use of CTVaR (Climate Transition Value at Risk) in new indices we have co-designed and the climate research work of the Thinking Ahead Institute – both achieved via working closely with WTW’s wider climate expertise.

We are seeking a Lead Associate – Climate Transition Analytics to contribute to in-depth research and analysis across various companies and sectors. In this role, you will help shape and refine our in-house perspectives on key technology and policy trends driving decarbonisation. Your work will focus on assessing the potential economic and financial impacts of the climate transition on companies, financial institutions, and countries.

    The Role

    • Research and analysis for a series of companies and sectors. This will include developing or updating in-house views on the most likely technology and policy trends driving decarbonisation in those sectors and determining the potential economic and financial impact on companies, financial institutions and countries.
    • Synthesise and analyse diverse data sources and large datasets, efficiently and effectively using quantitative and business modelling tools.
    • Effectively communicate the results and implications of our analysis to a range of external and internal audiences.
    • Network and interact with policy makers and other industry groups to ensure analysis undertaken is policy relevant.
    • Work with the wider Investment practice to design products and services to leverage the climate transition team’s analytical insights – for example index strategies or integrating climate analysis into investment product design.
    • Work with our Investment practice consulting and sustainable investing teams as a specialist to help them advise asset owners regarding: exclusions/ phase out policies; climate scenarios; climate metrics; company engagement guidance and progress tracking. Plus other matters related to helping asset owners implement net zero goals while balancing financial risk and return. Engage directly with certain Investment practice clients where they are seeking deeper technical insights.

At WTW, we trust you to know your work and the people, tools and environment you need to be successful. The majority of our colleagues work in a ”hybrid” style, with a mix of remote, in-person and in office interactions dependent on the needs of the team, role and clients. Our flexibility is rooted in trust and “hybrid” is not a one-size-fits-all solution. We understand flexibility is key to supporting an inclusive and diverse workforce and so we encourage requests for all types of flexible working as well as location-based arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter to discuss more.
