    Description

    Fundamental Advisors is seeking a risk and insurance manager to join its NYC based team. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 – 10 years’ experience in a relatable field. Ideal candidate will have the ability to work nimbly and independently, with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Office, Excel, Powerpoint) and an ability to collaboratively assist multiple business functions within the organization.

    The Role

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, supporting the following functions:

    • Finance, Accounting, FP&A
      1. Determine appropriate annual insurance and risk management budget across all insurance categories and advisory services 
      2. Report modifications to any loss sensitive insurance programs requiring change in capital commitments
      3. Collaborate with broker partner to create master insurance premium allocation representing a fair, market premium to be allocated among individual investments
      4. Manage lender negotiations and compliance with regard to insurance and indemnification provisions 
    • Legal and Compliance
      1. Provide guidance on applicable types and amounts of insurance appropriate for existing and future governing fund commitments
      2. Periodically review investor fund agreements to confirm compliance
      3. Opine on contractual language within boilerplate template and bespoke agreements used in daily operations. Negotiate language representative of current market standards
    • Investments
      1. Proactively consult with investments team on pending acquisitions and divestiture activity, collecting pertinent diligence details required for internal and external stakeholders
      2. Develop evaluation process for new investments and determine whether any modifications, or supplemental coverage, is required on current insurance placements 
    • Operations
      1. Support daily operations at individual investments which may include but not be limited to onboarding new property management staff, providing educational training, and managing incident reporting 
      2. Submit insurance premium billings internally to ensure premiums are paid in a timely manner
      3. Track and review insurance claims with designated claims administrator
    • Broker Relations & Insurance Strategy
      1. Collate necessary data and metrics to support broker submission to insurers
      2. Evaluate and recommend insurance options based on inherent vulnerabilities and exposures
      3. Represent organization on broker and carrier engagements which may include annual renewal meetings, client advisory boards, and claims closure projects
      4. Monitor reported incidents and determine threshold level for reporting to broker and insurance carriers
      5. Manage losses and claims internally 
    • Stakeholder Communication
      1. Submit regular updates to internal insurance committee 
      2. Explore benefits of technology adoption into risk and insurance function
      3. Disperse certificates of insurance to external parties as required 
      4. Monitor partner insurance programs and opine on adequacy of the same 
      5. Keep leadership team apprised of emerging risks which may have a severe impact to the organization’s operations or profitability

    Qualifications

    The Requirements

    • Minimum of 5-10 year's experience in a related field
    • Ability to work nimbly and independently
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Office, Excel, Powerpoint) 
    • Ability to collaboratively assist multiple business functions within the organization

    Compensation and Benefits

    Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

    Compensation

    The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $130,000-$150USD per year.

    This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
